*NY # of agencies of 1,403 plus Associate and Satellite members comes to 1,800, which translates to 18,000 employees.

** National # of agencies translates to approximately 300,000 employees.

The good news is that I have submitted $600. in contributions to D.C. which are not included in above totals, and have about 15 pledges pending which could raise our NY total to $40,000. or more by the end of September.

The bad news is that the NY goal is $60,350. and we are only averaging $24.26 per agency. The national average isn’t much higher.

As I was putting this report together I received a joint email message from IIABA President Alex Soto and CEO Robert Rusbuldt containing a wake up call. Unless we get behind our Government Affairs staff in Washington and build InsurPac to a competitive level, we may well end up with the Optional Federal Charter which we keep hearing more and more about every day. The large P&C and Life & Health companies are behind it 1,000% with a lot more PAC money than we have. If we end up with OFC, we and the small regional companies which have kept us alive will be a thing of the past.

In the email IIABA is proposing that all their employees contribute to InsurPac, setting the example for all State and Local boards, as well as member agencies and their employees. What is at stake is the livelihood of every owner, officer and employee, as well as the welfare of our insureds.

So why wait? Don’t be a conscientious objector. Be a conscientious member. Nobody has a real good reason or excuse not to participate. Give as much as you can, but please give something.

While you’re at it, why not take advantage of the IIABNY Matching Fund Program and help your favorite charity at no expense to yourself. First time contributions will be matched, up to $500., and IIABNY will send a contribution to your favorite charity, in your name. Last year contributors will be matched for the amount in excess of last year’s contribution, up to $500. (This is not tax deductible since you didn’t give it yourself)

Special thanks to the following list of those who contributed thus far this year:
